How Mid-Year Goal Setting Leads to Achieving More

There's power in writing down goals. There's power in revisiting your annual goals at the mid-year point to make sure you're on target!

One key to success is writing down what you want to achieve.

The physical activity of writing a goal enables it become more 'real' in our minds. Many people 'write' onscreen now, and if that works for you, awesome.

For me, I still find pen to paper the most tangible way for me to stay connected with my thoughts - and goals.

As July is halfway through the calendar year, it's a wonderful time to look back over your annual goals and re-set or realign them to what has been accomplished in the first six months.

So, I encourage you to take a few minutes to sit with your list of 2022 goals. Read each one.

For goals you achieved, remember how it felt when you hit the mark. Relive the moment. Celebrate it (again). Mark it as complete.

For goals yet-to-be-achieved, ask yourself if it's still a goal you want to achieve? Keep it on the list or remove it.

Other questions to consider:

  • Are there any goals that no longer fit with your outlook? (remove them)
  • Are there new goals that should be added based on the results of the past six months? (write the new ones down)
  • Do you want a total do-over and fresh start? (it's okay, do it)
  • Have you achieved everything and need brand new goals? (go for it!)

Even if you haven't achieved any of your goals -- yet -- for this year, there is still plenty of time to end the year on a high note. Start today!

Takeaways:

  • Write down what you want to achieve and it's more likely to happen
  • Treat July as a "reset" period -- a fresh new start to achieve your goals for the year.
